Breakfast at the Benjamin Ellis House combines a mixture of cooking styles from around the world, bringing together different tastes from across Europe and throughout North America.



Our gourmet breakfast is a set menu which includes a hot main dish, fresh fruit, various side dishes and a home-made baked good each day. Dietary restrictions are accommodated as best possible with advance notice.

Samples menus include: Southwest Breakfast Casserole served with sausage, Grits Soufflé and Apple Cheddar Scones, or Turkey & Mushroom stuffed crepes, Sweet Potato Hash, bacon and Apple Dapple Cake.

Other popular favorites are Eggs Florentine with Mornay sauce, Praline French Toast, California Avocado Egg Bake with Hollandaise, Bircher Muesli, Peaches & Cream Popovers, Mango & Quinoa Salad or Apple & Onion Tart.



Our plated set menu breakfast is served in our formal dining room between 8.30 and 9.30 each morning. Seating is family style at our formal dining tables giving guests opportunities to get to know each other.
Have an early morning departure? Ask about a Breakfast 'Go bag'. Your breakfast will be in the guest refrigerator to take on your way out.

While breakfast is a special affair at the Inn, it is not required all guests partake. We understand some guests may want to sleep in or will pass on breakfast. When possible, we appreciate advance notice for our planning purposes. ​



Begin your New Bern adventure each morning at the 24 hour beverage center. Expressed coffee or hot tea is available from our Jura automatic coffee machine. Relax with your coffee or tea in our comfortable parlor adjacent to the dining room. Chat with other guests or read the newspaper. Weather permitting take advantage of the front porch in one of the rocker chairs or on the porch swing.
